With version 10.1.2, BACKUP EAGLE® continues to build on its development trajectory. The focus is on key enhancements in the areas of virtualisation, the web interface, tape management and cloud integration – complemented by a comprehensive package of security updates that address critical vulnerabilities in core frameworks.

New features

  • Nutanix integration – HOST_DETECT now detects unsecured Nutanix VMs, thereby increasing resilience; an automatic synchronisation process automatically removes VMs deleted in Nutanix from monitoring.
  • WEB UI – Tenant management – now fully available in the web interface. Service providers no longer require the Classic UI on the customer’s server – this enables operation on a headless Linux system.
  • WEB UI – Licence management – licences can be loaded directly via the WEB UI, and current licence usage is clearly displayed.
  • TAPE CONTROL – Support for the IBM TS4300 tape library and for QUADStor VTL (Virtual Tape Library).
  • Cohesity – Microsoft 365 – Querying of M365 backups (mailboxes, SharePoints, OneDrives) has been added and is now fully displayed in BACKUP EAGLE®.

Further improvements

  • Exclude filters for table columns – a leading “!” reverses the filter.
  • New default billing models in ACCOUNTING for Veeam VMs, Oracle Backup Agent and SQL Backup Agent.
  • Improved recognition of various Commvault report email formats.
  • New plan file report for IBM Spectrum Protect (ISP) with daily history.
  • Improved loading performance – reports run faster, and the UI refreshes up to 20% faster.
  • Security patches – updates for Apache Tomcat, Netty, Spring Framework, Spring Security, jackson-databind, httpcore5/httpclient5, Apache Log4j and Azure SDK, amongst others, address numerous critical and high-severity vulnerabilities.

Outlook: Version 10.1.3

The next service release is already in the pipeline. Planned features include separate lists for cost centres and cost centre allocation, including import from external sources such as ServiceNow (ACCOUNTING), as well as automatic background updates and configurable process limits in TAPE CONTROL. Further details will follow with the release.
